It is possible for some countries to sorta turn their economy off and back on with modest pain. Not possible here. We don't have a working health care system, unemployment system, income replacement system, or government business lending system

Almost no one on the left has any idea how little state capacity we have to do anything. I watched the ACA exchanges be a shitshow for years. I realized our governments are so gutted (financial, talent, innovative thinking) we can only do very very simple things

All these "wonks" are trying to invent clever solutions for different elements. But our Government can't even just mail every American a check. The solutions to save people in this crisis need to be insane simple to have any chance. Take your idea and dumb it down by 80%.
