He portrayed a character of a single parent, living in poverty together with his son Leshole Mabitsela. Being a selp employed working as mechanic.

His character has a very loud personality as he is a man of pride and do everything he can to make sure he provides for his son Leshole. Living in a society where every1 looked down on you as a parent and having to live with a son who was constantly bullied at school is not easy

The Mabitsela family never had good fortune of living happily even in the situation they lived under. They were consistently undermined and never considered as superior in the society.

From a son who was bullied as school because of his looks and IQ level to a father who will be accused of being a bad parent, who will always be remembered how his son need a mother figure in his life.

The sad part is that, every time they try to do something good or found happiness, something bad will come and steal away their happiness or fortune and as usual they are left heart broken.

As a single parent, big boy worked very had to make sure that his son's dream of studying to be a pilot become true. He went as far as limiting consuming alcohol. With just money from fixed cars, he managed to pay for his son school fees.

There were too many incidents where you'd swear the writer of Skeem Saam was against this character. But just like any Productions, is business as asual and nothing personal.

I remember one particular story line where Big boy was finally buying a house of his dream, he took loans, did all the paper work and everything. Guess what. He didn't even lot of time in his new house. It was reported that he has been scammed.

What about the time his son got shot and he was told that his son Leshole will never walk again. Well God is great and Leshole did woke again and is now a pilot student.

There's a lot I could share about this character. But like many of South Africans, we were robbed of a good actor with a very interesting story lines.

We were looking forward to see Leshole finish school and Big boy as his father be at the graduation then later on buy a house of their dreams. Well that's how we can only wish the storyline to be.

I know the production have to move on and they might eventually hire another good lookalike actor to continue with the storyline. But there's a reason why we are so unique. The replacement might be a good actor, a good lookalike but will never tick all the boxes.

We lost a great artist, an icon and the intire Pioneer. May his soul rest in peace. Charles Maja aka 'Big boy' aka 'Bra Tick' you shall be missed. #ripcharlesmaja
