The one reason why scientists do not give credence to spiritual knowledge is that they feel it relies upon faith. We looked upon science as a means for solving the mystery of life & creation, with all d advancement in scientific theory, some questions remain unanswered.
One of the reason for it is that science is still a work in progress. Consequently, it's concept keep on changing. In the evolution of science theories were propounded by great scientists & were accepted as the truth by their contemporaries. But then other scientists came along..
who discredited the old theories or proved them to be inadequate and established newer ones. This leads us to believe that with further advancement in science, theories accepted as Truth today may be disbanded tomorrow

To elucidate this point, let me take you on a brief journey.
Sir Isaac Newton presented his 'Law of Motion'. At that time they were accepted as the ultimate Truth. He stated that space is three dimensional; time flows through space without mingling with it in any way; force is proportional to mass & distance & it acts between 2 points.
However, after Newton came Michael Faraday. He passed a magnet through a wire and produced electric current. By doing so, he went beyond Newton's laws of motion & presented a higher level of understanding of the physical phenomena in the universe.
Faraday was succeeded by J.C. Maxwell. He replaced d concept of force with that of the force field. He stated that a proton with positive charge has a force field around it, irrespective of any negative charge nearby, this led to a new comprehension about d nature of light energy
After Maxwell came the famous Albert Einstein, with his Theory of Relativity. He postulated that space space and time r not independent but relative to each other. Two observers moving at different velocities will sequence events differently on their timeline.
He also stated that matter at rest possesses energy; the amount of energy is described by his famous equation E = mc².

At the same time, there were advances taking place in d field of chemistry. Rutherford bombarded atoms w/ alpha particles & measured d counts w/ Geiger counter
He found that the atom is not a solid particle as it was previously understood to be, instead, it consists of tremendous amount of empty space. In fact, 99.99% of an atom is vacant space. His proposition was altered by the quantum physicists.
Niels Bohr cameup with Quantum Theory, that d subatomic level, matter is not what we thinks it is, & d classical concept of it being solid mass is wrong. Subatomic matter does not exist, but only shows tendencies to exist. Now whole idea of matter changed to an energy feild.
In the famous book, Tao of physics, Fritjof Capra quotes Einstein as confessing:

"My every attempt to adapt the theoretical concepts of physics to the new kind of knowledge failed. It was as if the ground had been pulled from one's feet with nothing to fall upon".
Werner Heisenberg, quantum physicists, said:

" The violent reactions to the new developments of modern science can only be understood when 1 realises that here d foundation have started moving, and that this motion has caused d feeling that d ground would be cut from science".
The second problem that arose was of synthesising the Quantum Theory with Einstein's relativity models bcus at d subatomic level, particles move at tremendous speed. The electron orbits at 2,200km/sec, while the proton has an extremely rapid spin or intrinsic angular momentum.
So, there was now need to reconcile Einstein's theory w/ d Quantum Theory. However, such a theory has not yet been developed. Since d days of Einstein & d quantum physicists, scientists have been in search of a Unified Field Theory that would tie all forces, masses & energies.
Astonishingly, unified field theory was mentioned five thousand years ago in the Bhagavad Gita:

Bhūmirāpo 'nalo vāyuh khan mano eva cha ahankāra itīyam me bhinnā prakritir ashtadhā. (7.4)
Lord Krishna said to Arjun: ' Earth, water, fire, air, space, mind, intellect and ego - these are all the different aspects of God's material energy. In other words, Einstein had merely discovered that matter is a form of energy.
But Bhagavad Gita elucidates - Earth, water, fire, air, space etc - are different froms of energy.

We see how spiritual science posseses deep insight into the nature of force, matter and energy - topics have puzzled scientists for over a century.
It only goes to show that science would do well to take spiritual knowledge more seriously. Here I do not denigrate science, but merely show its limitations for the absolute truth, thereby establishing another kind of knowledge, which is spiritual knowledge.
