For nearly 40 years, pinball games were often themed around horseracing, sports, casino games, or travel. During the 1970s, pinball manufacturers began to create games using licensed images from television programs, movies, and even celebrities...
In 1979, Bally Manufacturing Corp. introduced the Dolly Parton pinball game. It featured skill shot targets, audio of her song “Here You Come Again,” and graphics highlighting Dolly’s distinctive appearance.
Dolly’s publicity team requested revisions of the artwork to reflect her new career direction toward pop music. As a result, the playfield of the game still shows Dolly in blue jean shorts , a red gingham shirt, and bare feet (her “country girl” persona)--
--while the back glass depicts Dolly in a bold Las Vegas gown surrounded by her now-trademarked butterflies.
