A THREAD: FASHION MUSEUMS ALL AROUND THE WORLD

1. Musee YVES SAINT LAURENT marrakech (Morocco)

This is devoted to Yves Saint Laurent's work and designed by Christophe Martin. The museum includes a hall for temporary exhibitions, a research library with over 5,000 volumes, a 140-seat auditorium, bookshop and terrace café.
2. Musee YVES SAINT LAURENT Paris (France)

This exhibits the couturier’s body of work on the legendary premises of his former haute couture house, focusing on both the couturier’s creative genius and the process of designing a haute couture collection.
3. Musee CHRISTIAN DIOR Granville (France)

The Christian Dior museum is one of the only “Musée de France” dedicated to a fashion designer .
Each year, it presents a thematic exhibition presenting the creations of Christian Dior.
4. Museum at FIT (NY, USA)

Its museum, one of the few in New York City that are free to visit, hosts rotating exhibits that pull from the school’s impressive collection of one-of-a-kind pieces from designers like Chanel, Halston, Alaia, and Balenciaga.
5. Ferregamo museo (Florence, Italy)

This museum is dedicated to Salvatore Ferragamo, the inventor of the wedge and the cage heel. Although the shoe designer made his name in Florence, he owed much of his early success to Hollywood stars like Marilyn Monroe.
6. Museum of Fine Arts and Lace (Alencon, France)

Alençon is a small town famed around the world for its lace production. You can see the distinctive needlepoint lace that made duchesses come there for their wedding dresses. Women still make the lace today by hand.
7. Gucci Museum (Florence, Italy)

The Gucci museum contains a permanent exhibition of the iconic pieces of the brand, such as bags, clothes, and accessories, among many others. It contains a library, a cafeteria, a small boutique and a restaurant by a three-Michelin-star chef.
8. Museum of Bags and Purses (Amsterdam, Netherlands)

Their collection, which has pieces from as early as the 16th century, includes men's and women's bags and shows how their form and function has changed along with culture. It is home to one of the best gift shops in the city.
