Good morning. A wee bit of a thread:

I've received several emails from people accusing the provincial government and our chief public health officer of 'lying' about test results and about masks.

Let me just say this.
We don't know much about this virus. We are studying it and doing our best.

Our chief public health officer is here to tell us things based on facts, scientific testing and what we do know.

His job is to protect you with the best scientific knowledge we have at the moment.
Because we're learning as we go, that knowledge changes. Daily. Hourly, even.

Dr. Roussin is not here to tell you what you want to hear. He is here to tell you how to protect yourself with the best, science-driven knowledge we have.
He is not "flip-flopping" or "lying" when he said earlier that the public wearing masks don't help much, then said this week, after new studies came out and Canada's chief public health officer spoke about it, that masks MAY help, and it's OK to wear them.
He is doing his job - giving you the latest, best information we have, and yes, that information will change as we learn more.

No matter what information we get, the advice to protect yourself and others will be the same - stay home. Stay home. STAY HOME.
No one is lying to you. Things change, knowledge changes, advice evolves, and Dr. Roussin is giving you his best advice, because he wants you to live through this.

Also: The media is not covering anything up or fear-mongering. We are trying to get you information.
If you're afraid and anxious, I highly suggest staying off social media this weekend. You need the break, and you will not miss anything, because no matter what happens, the outcome is: Stay home.

This is what I plan to do. Take care of yourself, folks.
