[thread] I realise that MPs expenses are good click bait, but please be aware of the facts - especially those who care about vulnerable residents at this time of crisis: the £10k uplift in office budgets is not going into MPs pockets. It’s disingenuous to suggest that. (1/4)
It’s actually there to ensure that MPs staff can continue to give advice, support & guidance to some of the most isolated & vulnerable members of our communities. It’s for equipment - laptops, printers, video conferencing & resources to allow staff to work from home. (2/4)
Maybe @ipsaUK should be be much clearer in their communication with the world outside Westminster, much of which is still under the impression that MPs expenses are still used for duck ponds & moats. In fact, the vast majority is there simply to help us do our jobs. (3/4)
But, if you think this is another ‘snouts in the trough’ story, you are profoundly wrong. Case-work in MPs office has gone through the roof since the #coronavirus outbreak. The real scandal would be if we couldn’t continue to do our jobs & left those constituents stranded. (4/4)
