It's great news the government has responded to charities' requests for support. Furlough is not the right response for many & £750m is a serious investment, given the demands on public finance right now. But it's also important to understand what it will and won't do. (1/4)
The funding package will provide grants to charities that are providing services that respond to COVID-19. This is particularly vital for organisations like hospices and domestic abuse services, and will help them weather the storm. (2/4)
However, while this funding will meet some of the immediate demand, charities won't be able to use it to adapt to the wider changes that are going to affect how they work and serve their communities outside of this and in the longer-term (3/4)
