It& #39;s great news the government has responded to charities& #39; requests for support. Furlough is not the right response for many & £750m is a serious investment, given the demands on public finance right now. But it& #39;s also important to understand what it will and won& #39;t do. (1/4)
The funding package will provide grants to charities that are providing services that respond to COVID-19. This is particularly vital for organisations like hospices and domestic abuse services, and will help them weather the storm. (2/4)
However, while this funding will meet some of the immediate demand, charities won& #39;t be able to use it to adapt to the wider changes that are going to affect how they work and serve their communities outside of this and in the longer-term (3/4)
