Small Business support thread

COVID-19 is providing everyone with a challenge but it’s being particularly hard on small local businesses. We wanted to let you know what we’re doing to help. 1/6

Last week, the Government started two schemes, designed to help small/medium businesses get grant funding. They asked us to administer the money to businesses around the city. So, we got every member of our Business Rates Team to do just that. 2/6

They’ve been working long hours. As a result, more than £10.8 million in small business grants has been paid to over 850 eligible Coventry businesses over the last week. The team haven’t stopped though, and they’re currently processing 1,800 more applications. 3/6

We are only administrating the cash from Government; we can’t make judgements on who qualifies and who doesn’t. But we want this cash out to local companies as fast as possible and we’ve been encouraging applications.
