THREAD : The weather forecast is looking nice this bank holiday weekend and under normal circumstances it might be a good opportunity to have a spring clean – but it isn’t.

With tips closed and waste collection crews working as hard as they can to keep up with bin collections, now is not the time to be looking to dispose of large amounts of waste or bulky items.

It definitely isn’t an excuse to fly tip.

Until this is all over, hold off on your spring cleans, garden makeovers or major DIY projects and think carefully about how you can reduce your waste. This will really help your local bin collectors and street cleaners.

Things like composting, recycling and only buying the food you need can all help.
