As many celebs in the west have been getting on Zoom for interview in this corona era, it's been difficult to get Korean celebs to do the same. Either they think zoom iv is too casual or labels take risk-averse approach bc they handle everything (=not many comm professionals)
I once interviewed someone and at the end she wouldn't let us use her photo, insisting that her agency has to photoshop and do a "quality control." To be blunt, labels want to create their own narrative w stars and press interview is just a hassle and unnecessary risk for them.
I know many here believe, or would like to believe a factory model no longer exists in Kpop but it's not entirely true. I've seen Kpop idols self-censoring themselves. Almost every answer pretty much go back to thanking fans (which is nice, but sometimes doesn't rly answer my q).
