BAME & people on the left can say something over and over again--that's identity politics & 'unrealistic' 'extremism'. Once it's said in posh accents on the BBC, it's true.
So, yes, did everyone get the newsflash that Covid is not a great leveller and that working-class people on the frontlines are disproportionately affected? Man, who knew?
BTW, ditto that clip of Piers Nasty Morgan suddenly offering brilliant insights on the importance of migrants, the people he's helped vilify repeatedly. I'm always amazed at how short people's media memories are.
Also, please could I get credit for just saying 'posh' & not pointing out another obvious thing. I'm trying to be very measured these days.
Partly what has happened is that rich people for whom life was wonderfully stable are a little bit EMO right now, so they've lost that air of supercilious 'neutrality.' This comes across as hugely 'sincere' whereas when we've said the same things it's 'polemical.'
So many of us have been there if we are not white & speaking with the right accents. You say something with force & everyone looks pained. Towards the end of the meeting white public school kid says exactly the same thing, & presto! It's an Action Point, what a great idea!
This, by the way, we shall see now over the next several months. Stuff that we said which was dismissed as 'lunatic' & 'fringe leftwing cant' become perfectly normal brilliant "insights" in the mainstream media.
