Didn't think a chart of notices posted to http://RIP.ie  would get an update so frequently.

As of Apr 8, the 7-day average of notices is higher than any time during Nov-Apr from 2013-20, and rising by c.5 per day (each day is c.35 higher than the same day last week).
On Saturday, the 7-day average for 2020 was c.23 notices/day higher than the average for the equivalent periods in 2016-20.

This has risen rapidly and by Wed 8th, 2020 was c.45 higher than the 2016-19 average.

This seems to be greater than official COVID-19 mortality figures.
When notices are posted some geographic info is provided. However, due to duplicates (some entries have a notice for where a person lived and one for where they came from) caution is warranted in interpreting it.

These show the trends for Dublin and for National ex. Dublin.
Caveats notwithstanding (most notably the formulaic removal of duplicates), the figures suggest that notices posted for counties outside Dublin are around 35% above the norm (95 versus 70).

For Dublin it appears the increase is 100% (40 versus 20).
Why might the increase in postings be greater than the official Covid-19 figures?

It could be:
- a behavourial change so that a larger share of deaths have postings.
- more COVID-19 related deaths than covered by official figures.
- an increase in non-Covid-19 related deaths.
