Science is based on provable premises and duplication of proofs, based on a single principle. That is that laws of physics are universally applicable, having effect universally, always. But what if drifting cosmic phenomena exists like a vast virus of chaos, effecting reality?

Such phenomenon could be subtle except in its effect. And in building upward we know the key importance of beginning "on the square". So, occasionally a wispy chaotic filament may pass through our reality, befuddling the judgement of many and setting all foundations askew. Voila

The effect could be brief, or pass in geological time. The pillars upon which we have evolved and depend for our understanding of our reality could be pulled out from under us. Our reality could devolve for us as it changed for Alice in Wonderland. Okay, that's enough from me!
