Unless you want a marriage just like your theirs (read: Mothers') stop asking Nigerian parents for their thoughts on marriage. There's nothing there but endurance, battles, suppression and self doubt.

And I don't blame them as such, they can only tell you how they've "managed to keep a husband" - not how to enjoy your marriage because many of them didn't have that. Ask your mum to tell you the truth! She won't because she doesn't want to be disillusioned or die-vuhsed!
