@paullewismoney Another gap in the govt support for business in the small business grant. My coy rents a small office & should qualify. Our lease says we are responsible for rates, but it appears we/the property are not registered with the local council. 1/2
I understood we should automatically qualify for SBRR given the size of our business and the premises we operate from, but without being registered it looks like we won't get it. There are other local businesses in the same position. We need the support @RishiSunak! 2/2
@paullewismoney The fundamental problem is that the mechanism the government is using to provide the small business grant is through the business rates system i.e. support is only going to businesses whose premises (whether owned or leased) are registered with local auths. 3/4
Therefore, trading companies who need (and deserve) the support are not getting it. Businesses that don't directly pay rates should still be eligible for grant funding IF the govt wants them to survive. If MPs can get a £10k grant, all trading businesses should get it!! 4/4
