In Uganda, outdoor exercise has been banned, and boda drivers are only allowed on the streets from 7 am - 2 pm https://www.independent.co.ug/museveni-bans-outdoor-physical-exercises/">https://www.independent.co.ug/museveni-...
Also in Kampala, the gov& #39;t is trying to enforce a rule of 4 meters of distance between people at markets, and has prevented Kalerwe market from re-opening due to this. When vendors then moved to the roadside, they were also sent away from the road. https://www.independent.co.ug/kcca-refuses-to-re-open-kalerwe-market/">https://www.independent.co.ug/kcca-refu...
The arbitrary nature of these restrictions is so striking. The standard recommendation is 2 meters, not 4, and that& #39;s already hard to enforce in crowded cities. And why restrict bodas, already only carrying cargo from 2 pm? Feels like biosecurity theater
Elsewhere in Uganda, markets remain open without social distancing ( https://www.independent.co.ug/security-forcefully-evicts-defiant-roadside-vendors-in-arua/)">https://www.independent.co.ug/security-... and local authorities are struggling to force restaurants and bars to shut down ( https://www.independent.co.ug/task-force-in-tooro-struggling-to-implement-covid-19-directives/)">https://www.independent.co.ug/task-forc...
