So this slide from one of the webinars I was on yesterday had me thinking. Last year, the countries in yellow where the most prepared for an outbreak, countries in orange had an improvement in their level of preparedness (2017 to 2019) and countries in red, where not prepared 👇
...look at those red colours on my African continent. For a continent that was not prepared, what is the reason for having such little number of cases?
Testing.
You Cannot Manage What You Can't Measure!
So this brings me back to the Chinese Drs. (I don't even know if they are Drs. or Technicians or Lab Scientists)... Will there be an improvement in this area of testing now that they are here?
We are not testing enough.
Why aren't we testing enough?
Capacity.
No need to ask why don't we have capacity. We already know that answer.
This is a similar slide from another webinar yesterday. This one shows cases reported in the last 7 days. (31st March 2020 to 6th April 2020) Nigeria is in the 1 to 100 cases per week alongside alot of African countries.
