hey i know it’s been a real day online and off but here’s something to boggle the mind: nursing registration fees (an annual expense) have just increased. nurses are being asked to pay more for the privilege of being frontline workers in beyond-shitty conditions
here’s something else: if a nurse has to self-quarantine as a result of contact with a covid patient, or contracting the virus at work, they have to use their personal leave. only once this has been exhausted may they access special covid leave
so if they have a chronic health condition, for eg, or had planned elective surgery later in the year, or lord forbid happen to get gastro or a bad period or chicken pox later this year, they will not have any paid sick leave remaining
my sister works in a large public hospital where they are literally running short on hand sanitiser. security staff from her ward - a psych unit - have been redeployed to A&E bc insane fuckheads are coming into casualty and going bonkers when they can’t get tested immediately
