When will America understand that it's too late to use Covid tests to contain the virus? The tests are only for data, essential workers, and hospital strategy now.

Positive/negative status is too transient, false negatives way too high, and the virus too pervasive.
I think people fixate on the notion of getting personally tested (outside above scenarios) because it feels like control in scary times, but also because America is still so stuck in the myth of the individual. But resources are needed for the battle that's already arrived.
Look I get it. I convinced myself that going to the park and to a café before Paris shut down were "essential" for my mental/physical health. My symptoms started the day after my shelter in place began. Seven days later I was in the hospital. The virus moves too fast.
Just some tough love from Europe, aka your near viral future.
I am right now still hospitalized with Covid so I'm going to mute this thread now. But please let go of "curiosity testing," it's weeks too late to use it to contain spread. Do your part and behave as if you have it and don't want to kill others. Stay home, save lives.
