The main reason I still find this scene so upsetting despite being from kh1 is because while it could have been an interesting character flaw, K has never been shown doing any self reflection or growing from this. So to me, it’s still a relevant character flaw.
She was just a kid, and Riku was far more cruel to Sora in kh1 than k has been to anyone, but the reason we don’t hold kh1 Riku’s actions over kh3 Riku’s head is because he has been shown busting his ass to overcome his own flaws. K has not been given that growth.
Not only does k not have any significant development, she’s barely allowed to have any character flaws whatsoever. This is one of the very few scenes we have that give her dimension. She’s human, she’s a little selfish, and you know what? THAT’S INTERESTING.
I’m sorry, I’m tired of not being able to talk about this. I’m not saying k is evil for one offhand remark she made when she was 14. I’m saying this is a genuine character flaw that /could/ have been a good jumping off point for a really good, dimensional character.
And yeah. I always found K suggesting that they steal the raft that was Riku’s idea and dream, and ditch him behind pretty upsetting. But moreso because this apparent rift between k and Riku has never been addressed.
