I was the last front-of-house employee to keep his job at the restaurant/cafe I worked at when covid-19 quarantine started. But that only lasted two days. A few of the cooks are still there, along with the owner and GM, doing to go orders
I sent out a tweet/ig/Facebook post asking if anyone in my network would be interested in a bag of coffee if I roasted some and promised not to cough in it. And the response has been overwhelmingly supportive.
I’m not getting rich but I paid rent, and I’ve got a website coming soon ( http://luckycoffeeco.com , in the meantime just Venmo me. My coffee’s really good!) over the years I’ve tried take care of my family/friends and trust God, and now God and my friends/family are coming through
...for me I’m a big way. Former neighbors and friends of friends have all chipped in and bought a bag or two to support me. And just now I got a surprise text message from a former customer. She and a bunch of other women are all moms of babies/toddlers. They used to come in...
To the cafe each Tuesday and all have coffee and falafel and whatnot. They were sweet. I always told them their kids were cute (they were) and didn’t mind straightening up after them a bit. They got my number from my old boss and chipped in to Venmo me a very generous tip😭
That’s it. I’m just feeling really thankful rn. I know things are really difficult for a lot of people, but please reach out. Feel free to reach out to me if you need coffee (even if you’re broke, I got you), or someone to talk to, or something more - I have lots of friends.
