Scalia's public persona and his partisanship could be ugly, but as a jurist, you'll not find his make this side of Heaven very often. While he and I do not share a judicial philosophy, read a Scalia opinion the way a lawyer reads it and you'll find a man of uncommon principle.

True, he didn't always live up to that principle; he had his missteps, his obvious episodes of motivated reasoning, and his blind spots that compromised his objectivity. All of them do. But if you think for a second it wasn't the right vote to confirm Scalia, you're just wrong.
