Unpopular opinion of my profession: libraries can fully cancel summer reading this year. You really can! I promise you!

Programs online? Great! But if you move SR online & 900 families are still coming in for prizes 4 times each, you& #39;re actually gonna be part of the PROBLEM.https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤷‍♀️" title="Woman shrugging" aria-label="Emoji: Woman shrugging">
This profession suffers from a dire case of "always have to be "helping"". It doesn& #39;t help anyone to do SR this year.

Bet your staff will be more stressed than ever, especially if you& #39;re moving to online SR for the first time.
Do online programs, let patrons know that summer reading next summer will be amazing, and call it a day.

Keeping up social distancing matters! And it matters a lot more than giving people the chance to win some earbuds and a gift card!
I& #39;m gonna go ahead and tag this thread #LibraryLife and #LibrarianProblems just bc I& #39;m so frustrated with all of us!

IT IS OK NOT TO OFFER EVERYTHING YOU WOULD IF WE WEREN& #39;T IN A PANDEMIC.

BECAUSE WE WILL STILL BE MANAGING A PANDEMIC IN THE SUMMER.
