Re: the festival that presented my first play: I was friends with people who knew the programmers. One of those friends was my fellow MFA student at Brooklyn College and she ended up starring in the show along with another of our classmates.
If ANY playwright out there has a story about getting their play produced that doesn't involve having personal connections or going through some kind of gatekeeping program, I would be very interested to hear it.
