Interesting (little noted) comparison between W. Europe (IT/SPA/FR/GER/AUT/BE/NL/UK/SW/IRE/POR) & USA:

W. Eur
Population: 384.3 MM
Cases: 674 K
Deaths: 59 K
Deaths/1 MM Pop: 154

USA
Population: 327 MM
Cases: 430 K
Deaths: 15 K
Deaths/1 MM Pop: 45
Perhaps something that's under-commented is that there have been a lot of states/locales/govs/mayors that have done a fine job managing a difficult situation. Also I suspect at the end of this we're going to be grateful for the skill of our medical personnel.
Totals just for data reported 4/8:

WE
New Cases: 33 k
Deaths: 3.2 K

US
New Cases: 32 k
Deaths: 1.9 k
