Which of these is the better measure of public influence?
These are *super* interesting results to me. When I posted the poll I assumed books would win handily, followed by social media. Events, I thought, would barely register.
And I'm very surprised that so far not a single person has pointed out that social media is both a literary AND spoken word medium. It's the only choice in the poll that lets users execute the other channels of influence at the same time.
Several have pointed out that "books written" says basically nothing. Books sold or read matter more.

To which I'd say, "Yes, but probably not *as much* more as you think."
The question depends on what we think of when someone says "influence." My guess is that many who read "influence" actually think about something like prestige. Books are significantly more prestigious than social media followers, but their audience ceiling is MUCH lower than SM.
