Welcome everyone who is listening to Radiohead's OK Computer tonight. This is an album that I have listened to hundreds of times, but tonight may be the first time that I listen with earbuds, so I expect to pick up some new things.
#CBAOKComputer

By contrast, tomorrow night will be the very first time that I have ever listened to the full album Western Stars (I have heard a few songs), so that will be a very different experience.
#CBAOKComputer

Four minutes to go.

I am coming to this experience just as a fan, not as an expert. I did not do any research into the making of the album, so I won't be able to share any of that info. If you know those stories, feel free to share them.

OK Computer was released in 1997, which is just an absurd fact and a stark indicator of just how ahead of its time this album was. If my facts are straight, it was the followup to The Bends, which is another of their amazing albums.
#CBAOKComputer

OK, under 60 seconds to go if you are playing along. The first track is "Airbag."
#CBAOKComputer

And we are off: "Airbag" opens with guitar riffs that are pretty reminiscent of The Bends, so at the outset, we are in familiar territory.
#CBAOKComputer

"Airbag" : "I am born again." There aren't a lot of lyrics on this album that I can hear clearly, but I hear that one. "An airbag saved my life."
#CBAOKComputer

Love, love, love this first twin solo break from Johnny Greenwood and Ed O'Brien.
#CBAOKComputer

I have only seen Radiohead live once, and it was only a few years ago. I spent the vast majority of the evening watching whatever Johnny Greenwood was doing at any given moment. He's a ridiculous musician.
#CBAOKComputer

"Airbag" is winding down; next up, fasten your seat belts kids, it's "Paranoid Android."
#CBAOKComputer

And it begins. We are instantly in a different world of music. The guitars are less harsh and more otherworldly. Thom Yorke is almost showing off with the range he displays here.
#CBAOKComputer

"When I am king, you will be first against the wall."

Come on.

"With your opinion, which is of no consequence at all."
#CBAOKComputer

And now that new riff taking us into the second section of the song. We are building toward a huge guitar riff that I will assume is Johnny Greenwood, but I don't know for sure.
#CBAOKComputer

Actually, I'll bet the first riff is Ed O'Brien and the second crazier riff is Greenwood.
#CBAOKComputer

And boom. Into the "rain down" section.
CBAOKComputer

We are fully into the "what the hell is this song" section of this song. The layered vocals of Thom Yorke? Stellar.
#CBAOKComputer

Just complete sonic madness here
#CBAOKComputer

Just speechless
#CBAOKComputer

"Subterranean Homesick Alien" is the third track. A very necessary breather after the frenzy of the previous track.

We move flawlessly from the meltdown of "Paranoid Android" into this beautiful groove.
#CBAOKComputer

The title is a reference to "Subterranean Homesick Blues" by Dylan, I assume, but other than pointing that out, I can't give you anything else about that.
