i don't think we spend enough time acknowledging the tension between mercury and jupiter (at least not the way we do with venus/mars). they have the same relationship with opposing domiciles, and they also relate through square aspects between domiciled

they're the only planets whose domiciles are both in the same modality, so they operate at similar speeds. but the things they're concerned with are so fundamentally different, and they take very different approaches

jupiter is very big picture. jupiter has big ideas and trust that things will somehow come together. if you want to make him crazy, make him do data entry. mercury thrives in data entry, really in data. mercury can work with the details and facts and figures. they need a plan

mercury persuades through rhetoric, facts, and clever logic. jupiter works on passion and idealism, appealing to emotion and the drive one has to see better. they are both inextricably linked and diametrically opposed

because passion without execution is a flame that comes in hot and burns out bright. and precision without a cause can get stuck, like a broken record. and remember, we're talking about mutable signs. these are planets that can adapt to change

mercury is armed with all the tools they need to make adjustments as needed. jupiter knows all of the possibilities and can jump to the next one with just as much enthusiasm. together, they're a powerful team. but they have to understand each other

the key to their relationship is trwhen they can understand the other's MO and give them space to operate, they thrive as a team. but if either tries to impose their way of being on the other, they foster only resentment and frustration
