This will be the Tristan Wirfs thread. Looking forward to watching him. #NFLDraft #Browns
May be a hold here but Wirfs does a great job finishing the block all the way to the whistle
On this play Wirfs is focused on the left LB, who ends up covering the RB, and doesn't see the two LBS lined up over the center and RG stunting until it's too late. This was freshman year so we'll see if his anticipation improves.
Wirfs is backside on this play but that's some impressive push
Would've been nice for the back to actually chip the rusher, but here Wirfs' lack of elite length shows up. He's unable to fully latch onto the EDGE and gets ole'd with spin move. 34" arms are long enough, but Carter Coughlin's are less than 32". This shouldn't happen.
On this play Wirfs is also too impatient, as you can tell he is trying to push Coughlin back rather than just wait and anchor.
Excellent job getting leverage and twisting the end down the line of scrimmage.
Even as a freshman he packed some serious power.
Sam Hubbard is a pretty good player, but Wirfs gives up more ground than you'd like
Don't like this. He just gives the defender free real estate, and the DE isn't even going speed-to-power, he just initiates contact with Wirfs and pushes him back into the QB
Gets long-armed again. Am interested to see if this continues through his career because you can't improve arm length obviously but there are things you can do to equalize a bit.

Side note: these are the kind of plays that made Tyquan Lewis a second-round pick.
Only his freshman year but those two games were not encouraging. I am however expecting massive jumps in performance over his next two seasons.
More issues with length. I don't see this going away.
He finishes plays.
Next play is even better
Quality pass rep. Nothing the DE can do.
Love it. When Wirfs is on his game, he's fun to watch
Now that's how you use your hands. Wirfs bats the DE's arm inside and throws him completely off-balance
He's on a roll
It's a handoff but this is the awareness I was talking about wanting to see earlier. DT goes outside and Wirfs gives him a push and then immediately focuses on the EDGE. Had it been a pass Wirfs gave Stanley enough time to step up comfortably.
Shareef Miller was a guy I liked last year. Wirfs effortlessly rides him around and out the arc.
Miller also gets an excellent jump on this play but it doesn't matter.
Another great pass rep. Makes it look easy.
Speed-bull doesn't work.
This is Andrew Thomas vs. K'Lavon Chaisson-level stuff
Love this play. Blocks his guy, and manages to slow down the QB's man just enough to where Stanley has time to get the pass off.
Not a good pass rep - opens his shoulders parallel to LOS too early which allows Miller to bend underneath him - but always fun when a lineman gets to run with the ball. Wirfs was about as fast as many of this year's TEs.
Little bit of trouble against first-rounder Jeffrey Simmons here
Wirfs struggled against Simmons but had no issue with first-rounder Montez Sweat.
That does it for 2018 film. Much better than 2017, still some issues to work on. Should be a massive jump in performance from 2018 to 2019.
Right behind Wirfs with the fullback. First down.
What a beautiful play. Wirfs (LT here), the LG, and the FB all execute perfectly and the Hawkeyes get a TD on 4th down
Very impressed by Wirfs against Miami (OH). Switched between RT and LT effortlessly, and dare I say he actually looked more comfortable on the left side? Maybe not a ton of unique highlights, but he was very, very solid. What I like to see.
