Thread on Joe Burrow

QB1
One trait that made Burrow so special this season was his ability to evade defenders and create his own offense out of structure.
Burrow stays poised under pressure. Against this blitz, Burrow buys himself more time and quickly finds his target.
Rolls out of the pocket and finds a man deep for the TD. More than enough arm strength.
Joe Burrows ball placement down the field is phenomenal. Routinely threw dimes to the back shoulder.
I mean check out this placement on the sideline. Out and away from the defender, but still in bounds.
Knowing it is man coverage with the corner faced away, Burrow places this ball up high for his receiver to make a play.
With the game on the line, Joe Burrow is the guy that you want with the ball in his hands.

3rd & 17. Texas sends a blitz. Burrow stays composed, steps up into the pocket, and throws an off platform dime.
Joe Burrow is so much fun.
Burrow does a nice job of reading and reacting the defensive positioning to find soft spots.
As the slot defender comes down into the box, Burrow quickly just throws into the open space vacated by that same defender.
Again with the blitz coming, Burrow is able to quickly find his safety valve in Helaire on the hot route and throw into the direction of the blitz.
If you give Joe Burrow this much time in the pocket, he will make you pay for it 10/10 times.
The main weakness for Burrow would be that he has below average arm strength in NFL standards. However just like Tom Brady, I think its more important to be self aware of your own limitations and knowing what throws you can and can't make.
Not only that, Burrow compensates this lack of arm talents by throwing with anticipation and timing.

If you are slow at processing your reads, you can make up for it with a rocket arm. If you have a weak arm, you can make up for it with faster processing. It goes both ways.
However, I don't think Burrow's arm is weak enough to become a concern. Is it below average? Yes. But you can still be an elite QB with a below average arm? Also yes.
Now back to the good stuff.
Joe Burrow is QB1. No question.
This is how you throw your receiver open.
When the ball is thrown Vs. When the ball is caught
Clemson does everything perfectly on defense. Everyone is covered and the pass rush gets to Burrow. However, Burrow just creates his own offense when nothing is there.
Everyone is covered initially. Burrow rolls out of the pocket, forcing the defender to come down and help. Burrow just flips it over to the open receiver.
