Here is a summary thread of today’s #COVID19AB public health update. In the last 24 hours, we confirmed 50 new cases of COVID-19 in Alberta, bringing our total to 1,423.

We suspect 206 cases may be community transmission. (1/9)
Sadly, there were 3 more deaths related to COVID-19. I extend my deepest condolences to all of those who have lost a loved one. Every death from this virus is a tragedy. (2/9)
44 Albertans are currently in hospital with COVID-19 and 16 are in ICU. There are now 518 people who have recovered.

As of today, 66,783 people have been tested for COVID-19. (3/9)
Today, the Premier shared modelling data. Modelling is an estimate based on the best known data at the time the model is put together. (4/9)
Thank you to the many epidemiologists involved in this work which helps inform our planning.

We will continue to update the model based on emerging data and evidence. (5/9)
The most important factor is the behavior of each and every one of us.

If we stop following public health measures, we can expect a higher impact than the data currently suggests - if we strictly follow all guidance, we can further reduce the impact. (6/9)
We continue to expand our testing. While increasing testing is an important step to identify people with COVID-19, the best way to contain the outbreak is by all of us staying home as much as possible. Anyone with symptoms must stay home, even without a lab test. (7/9)
We are expanding testing to include those who have a cough, fever, runny nose, sore throat or shortness of breath AND are:
✅ Residents of the Calgary Zone
✅ Essential service workers
✅Living with a person who is 65 and older

Please use the online AHS assessment tool. (8/9)
The coming days and weeks are critical. The cooperation of all Albertans is needed.

Each and every one of us must continue to do everything we can to prevent the spread of this virus – this is in our hands and we can do this together. (9/9)
