I can tell all the people with a doctor complex over the Wharf debacle just want to look woke. People keep saying that those (mostly Black) customers were there crowded because of SNAP benefits being distributed in the first of the month.

These people are clearly not that close to anyone who actually uses SNAP. You can tell because 1. They seem to always bring up farmers markets in the city as if they don't accept SNAP. 2. DC does not distribute snap to all households on the same day. This isn't 1980.

So please take off the cape. Black people are dying at a higher rate. No need to shame the people who flagged the Wharf as a problem. Because it WAS A PROBLEM.

ALSO, Safeway is RIGHT THERE. And I know you must know that they accept SNAP. At least I hope you know that.

Getting mad at people for sitting down the Wharf because of overcrowding during this pandemic is the equivalent of getting mad that a restaurant with flagrant health violations being shut down. People deserve to have safe places to buy food.

The only way they were going to get that was for them to be shut down. Notice how magically the vendors figured a way to safely serve customers. That wouldn't have happened without those pictures.

Damn, I forgot to mention the AUDACITY of assuming the patrons were on food assistance based on.... THEIR RACE and no other information.

Just know you are advocating for more Black people to die so you can get SJW cookies.
