There has been so much chatter about bringing sports back -- everyone from US Pres Trump to #UFC prez Dana White weighing in -- I decided to ask medical experts about playing games during a pandemic. They had lots to say. https://www.latimes.com/sports/story/2020-04-08/sports-restart-quarantine-medical-experts-coronavirus-mlb-nba-nfl
Dr. Larry Chang, an infectious disease specialist @JohnsHopkins, said restarting the #NBA
or launching the aborted #MLB season would be a gamble, even if players & coaches are tested & kept in a virus-free bubble.

Even if pro sports resumed under quarantine, a single faulty test could allow an infected player onto the field, spreading #coronavirus throughout the league. The potential makes Dr. Richard Jackson of @UCLAFSPH "nervous."
Another thing about reviving pro sports now: A player with immunity becomes very valuable to his team, with no restrictions, etc. An expert wondered if athletes might be tempted to catch the virus & develop antibodies. He called it "perverse incentive." Interesting.
When asked about pro sports -- including the upcoming #NFL season -- the experts I spoke with agreed it was a big risk. But fans are so hungry for diversion, one doctor said, "it may be that our society decides it's a risk worth taking." https://www.latimes.com/sports/story/2020-04-08/sports-restart-quarantine-medical-experts-coronavirus-mlb-nba-nfl
