So I want to try to calm down commander players who are afraid of this new ultimatum cycle right now even before the last two are shown. These cards are extremely powerful and I'm sure the last two will be close to these. Nevertheless, I want to point some important things out.
I'll get the Mardu one out of the way first: This is less of a problem. Mardu as a color slice needs helps and this card is pushed enough to get people to play things like this. Aside from Queen Marchesa and the already broken Edgar Markov Mardu is really underrepresented in EDH.
I see the Abzan card as a great lesson in the fact you need to be running graveyard hate in all your decks. There are enough Graveyard hate cards that every deck can run, even decks that use their graveyard should be running some sort of hate. This is your final warning.
I see the Sultai one as a great way for social interaction to be brought back into EDH. Obviously, the person who resolves this spell is going to win with the cards they pick, but in a group setting you can come together to talk about the easiest way to get out of this jam.
Let us not forget that these are all 7CMC sorceries with clear restrictive costs. This is both a lesson to be more focused on the game you're playing and maybe run some counter magic. You don't need a Mana Drain to make this work, a simple Negate can solve all of this mess.
My final point is not only are these cards big splashy plays that attract people to the format to begin with but they will win games. I see too many people online complain about EDH games being too long and these spells are game enders if I ever seen them!
At the end of the day I'm going to buy one of each of these at some point and try to fit them into some decks. These are far from auto includes in my eyes. I still see these cards as less of a problem than Cyclonic Rift and I hope this thread lets you all reflect on that too.
