Wednesday, April 8 briefing room coverage thread: Fox News began seconds in at 5:47 p.m., MSNBC joined at 5:48 p.m., and CNN is in a commercial break.

Trump discussed his time talking to faith leaders ahead of Passover and Easter and then Boris Johnson. CNN didn't care!
CNN keeps saying they'll go to the briefing when "experts" speak, but that's not what they did last night. Right now, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is paying tribute to State Dept. employees retrieving Americans from far flung corners of the world. But CNN and Wolf DON't care
. @SecPompeo and @CBSNews's @benstracy just had a nice back and forth about continuing efforts to bring even more Americans home and ensure their safety, carried on Fox News and MSNBC.

Still more of the same from CNN
6:07 p.m. Eastern update -- Still nothing from CNN. Jim @Acosta has a taped report including defensive soundbites from the pro-China WHO.

Fox News and MSNBC still live in the briefing.
6:16 p.m. Eastern: CNN gives up, JOINS the briefing with Fox and MSNBC just as the President reiterates (despite what CNN wants viewers to think) that he won't reopen the economy against the advice of his health experts.
Meanwhile, MSNBC ducked out at 6:16 p.m. and rejoined at 6:20 p.m., meaning that thanks to takes from @ChuckTodd and his crew, MSNBC viewers missed the #TigerKing exchange
President Trump leaves the briefing at 6:44 p.m., turning over to VP Pence, Dr. Birx, Dr. Fauci, and CDC Director Redfield. CNN and Fox News HAVE stuck with the briefing, but MSNBC/Chuck Todd have quit for now to focus on Trump bashing with this snarky chyron
Dr. Birx has stepped up to the podium to offer her remarks, but @ChuckTodd has gone to commercial break on @MSNBC and will turn over to more Trump-bashing with @JoyAnnReid (MSNBC the one with the Farmer's Insurance ad)
At 7:02 p.m. Eastern, Dr. Birx was talking about the importance of protecting pregnant woman and then Americans with underlying health conditions like asthma. CNN and Fox News carried it.

But @MSNBC? @JoyAnnReid being upset that Trump bashed the WHO earlier today
. @JoyAnnReid paused her panel at 7:05 p.m. Eastern to dip into Dr. Fauci talking about the unacceptable struggles facing the African-American community in these times, BUT she then LEFT the briefing, choosing punditry over NEW CDC guidelines from Redfield on essential workers
. @CNN pulls the plug on the briefing at 7:17 p.m. Eastern after remarks from Dr. Fauci for @OutFrontCNN, leaving @FoxNews as the only ones carrying it.
