I think about Monica Lewinsky a lot. She was 22. Bill was 49. And people treated her like she was some sort of aggressive whore.

Because I find it necessary to clarify: this isn’t necessarily a Monica Lewinsky Stan account. I’m simply pointing out that there are very clear power dynamics at work when a man is considerably older than a woman and even more so when he is in an powerful position.

I’m not here to vilify Monica or President Clinton. But I was a 22-year-old woman once and a man who’s 49 always has the upper hand.
