As someone who is fairly new to the furry fandom, trying to come up with some kind of fursona has been difficult. I am a person who likes making characters, and I have trouble being attached to a character that is essentially a self-insert. (1/7)
The typical idea of a fursona is you but represented through an anthropomorphic animal. Alas, I have tried time and time again to create something that sticks to that idea, and I haven& #39;t been able to be attached to any of my ideas. (2/7)
I mean, I don& #39;t even have a good understanding of myself. What& #39;s my favorite color? What& #39;s my favorite food? What design would suit my personality? What even is my personality? It& #39;s hard to make an animal representation of yourself when you don& #39;t even know yourself well. (3/7)
After all that stress, I realized that I wouldn& #39;t be able to make a fursona that suits me. I realized...hey, this character just needs to represent me. It doesn& #39;t just have to /be/ me...ya know? (4/7)
That way of thinking has been really effective. I have an OC I& #39;m attached to named Owen. He& #39;s kind and reserved; though his species, colors, and gender identity doesn& #39;t fit me, he& #39;s still a character I& #39;m really attached to and I have things in common with. (5/7)
I& #39;m just glad that I& #39;m not worrying about having a fursona anymore! Owen won& #39;t be the only one. I& #39;m planning on having several. I want these characters to have their own unique personalities and stories, which will make me feel less restricted. (6/7)
I just made this thread to write out my thought process regarding this, since it was on my mind. It was causing me some unnecessary stress, so I& #39;m glad I have that all figured out. (7/7)
