@CanadaCouncil idea #1: offer emergency art creation grants to get Canadian and Indigenous artists documenting and expressing this time of living in this moment in history during #Covid19. Relax rules around reporting so people don’t have to complete reports before eligibility.
Idea #2: Have emergency fund for public collections to purchase existing works from artists. This benefits both collections and artists. And again, relax time frame and rules around reporting to facilitate this happening quickly. #covid19 @CanadaCouncil
Idea #3: offer emergency art performance fees for those who record & or go live and offer performances on social media platforms. Again, relax rules around reporting so funds could be released quickly. #covid19 @CanadaCouncil
Idea #4: remember Shakespeare wrote King Lear in a pandemic. Provide emergency grants to writers, incl. emerging writers who want to produce their first full length novels and and don’t forget screen writers. The next masterpiece could come in this time. #covid19 @CanadaCouncil
Artists were some of first people to lose contracts and gigs back in February and March when news of #Covid19 came out. Most of us live sale to sale. And yet it’s the arts that are keeping the crazy at bay for people in isolation.
