Watching this Polish Macbeth the thing that strikes me the most is how few male actors we have that are genuinely traditionally masculine. I think a big part of it is that we don't have many non-london WC actors on stage really (a few Scottish and they're great).

But generally speaking the actors I've seen (and I'm shit with actors) aren't like the men I encounter in Liverpool on a day to day basis. I know some actors who are of that world that never make it to the stage. I wonder why that is. Genuinely don't know.
