On one hand, I think everyone has thought hard enough about whether to vote/who they are voting for that coming in with a hot take is more likely to induce the backfire effect on those who disagree than convince anyone.
On the other, some people& #39;s reasons drive me up the wall.

My main thing since I need to say it somewhere is that I don& #39;t see & #39;not voting& #39; as righteous. I don& #39;t see it as making any meaningful difference, only an attempt to keep one& #39;s hands clean at the expense of any impact voting could have had.
Tbf, the US makes it incredibly hard for some people to vote, and if you don& #39;t think your vote will make much impact, well, I can sympathize with that. But, there& #39;s a difference between & #39;this is a lot of work for little impact& #39; and & #39;not doing this is a righteous act& #39;
Though, if voting is easier for you (voter suppression isn& #39;t uniform), then I don& #39;t see why you can& #39;t vote and then go back to doing the things that will have more direct impact. Cause I think other things *do* have more direct impact, but voting can give them breathing room.
And if both major party candidates are shitty in X way, then not voting because they are shitty doesn& #39;t meaningfully stop someone shitty in X way from being in the oval office. It just means you& #39;ve decided any places they might differ don& #39;t matter.
As shitty as Biden is, I don& #39;t think he& #39;d disband the pandemic response team, I don& #39;t think he& #39;d sit on his hands even with the forewarning. Would he have the perfect leftist response, no, but I believe the pandemic response team would have saved lives.
Acting like those lives don& #39;t matter because you want to protest in a way that doesn& #39;t actually prevent the thing you are protesting from coming to pass..
just
fuck

fuck
And, I& #39;m not saying don& #39;t protest the things you find shitty about the candidates. I& #39;m certainly not saying shut up and fall in line.
The candidates deserve to be criticized, and telling the left to & #39;shut up and fall in line& #39; builds resentment not loyalty.

As said, in the start, I don& #39;t think this thread is going to convince anyone. With the world as saturated with the pres race as it is, I don& #39;t think there are any undecided observers waiting in the wings.
Hopefully people will still vote downballot, but, who knows.

But, I needed a place to vent, and a discourse account with 11 followers seems like a reasonable place to put this.
(You can RT if you want, I just don& #39;t see it as being productive)
