If the pandemic teaches us anything, it's that so-called "individual actions" DO matter, and they have ramifications far beyond the individual. This isn't just theory.
This lesson also applies to climate breakdown. Personally, I think it's empowering that my actions matter.

So, what "individual actions" matter? I'm not talking about recycling!
I'm talking about shifting norms and pushing for policy change. This won't come easy in a system controlled by a wealthy fossil-fueled status quo.

Anything you do that helps others realize we're in a CLIMATE EMERGENCY shifts norms, revokes the fossil fuel social license, and creates public will for electing climate policymakers and winning climate policies that actually matter (a Green New Deal).
Fossil fuel is deadly, but rich and powerful people have gotten very good at using it to consolidate power. In other words, the policies we need will never just happen.
Which means that you and I have a responsibility to force them to happen. It sucks, but there it is.
