I just want to add to all the other voices that I& #39;m also disgusted that Biden& #39;s gotten the primary. I& #39;m disgusted even more by all the rhetoric from democratic pundits and establishment figures crowing about how nominating a confused old man with no real policies was "inevitable"
Joe Biden would be a mediocre man in easier times, which I guess is his appeal, he doesn& #39;t challenge *anything*, but it makes him utterly unequipped for a world with no more guidebooks, no more trajectory. He has no imagination in a world that now demands it from leaders.
That& #39;s even discounting the fact that he comes across as greatly diminished from who he was four years ago. I& #39;ve never believed much in "stamina" arguments, but one has to be made here, I simply don& #39;t think he has it left in him to face the next 4 years. They& #39;re gonna be rough.
The fact that SO MANY people in the party have pushed him despite his obvious lack of charisma, talent, and meaningful ideas have permanently alienated me from the Democratic party. I& #39;ve been made out to be a fool for wanting Democratic ideals to be made into actual policy.
This primary has shown that so much of what I thought they were about is just performative. There& #39;s no commitment to any consistent policy of compassion, or transparency, or any real drive towards a more just world. No interest in true or lasting change.
None of these thoughts are new or special in any way, but I wanted to kind of put it on record that I agree. I& #39;m utterly disappointed in the party in every way. I& #39;ll vote Biden, but I have no desire to. Even less desire to than Clinton in 2016, because this time they knew better.
They had a chance to put some real weight behind Sanders, a candidate who had a roadmap to an America that I wanted to live in, who could present an actual vision of difference to Trump. Instead they went with the saddest, most fragile wet kleenex of a candidate they could.
