Labour's current antisemitism problem isn't that antisemites joined the party.

It’s that people within the party became antisemitic.

The problem is that by so often denouncing Jewish fears as smears, the previous leadership & its outriders effectively told its supporters to mistrust Jews.

In doing so, it radicalised a large subsection of them into antisemitism.

Members were angry that Jeremy had been “smeared”, and a toxic ecosystem of Facebook groups & sites like the Canary helped turn that anger into antisemitic worldviews.

The result is a membership in which hostility to Jews is widespread, and antisemitic attitudes abound.
