0/ First Twitter thread, here goes nothing🤞

Since we unexpectedly got a mention in a newsletter after what I taught was a silently launched Medium post, I can pull the curtains off a sideproject @dan_gauci and I have been working on!

It's called Soundbite @getsoundbiteapp
2/ I love podcasts 🎙and have been listening ever since I can remember.

One thing that’s always kinda bugged me (and turns out a few other people too) was that there’s no signals to tell you if a podcast is worth queueing. Its just artwork, titles, and maybe some show notes 🤷‍♂️
3/ The average podcast is probably around 20 to 30 minutes long.

In the rare instance that there’s a trailer, people need to sit through a good chunk before deciding it’s for them.

There's a lot of upfront commitment with no potential return 👎
4/ Another problem we noticed was that too many shows got lost in wide blanket categories like politics or culture 😠

The content podcasters produce is so rich and diverse, that it feels like a disservice to have to reduce them to generic categories.
5/ This is where @getsoundbiteapp comes in

Soundbite is a podcast app that helps you find hidden gems through bite-sized listens ✨
7/ But here's the gist

👉 You shouldn't need to sit through an entire episode to tell if it's worth queueing or not
👉 You should be able to preview a podcast episode through snippets (what we call bites)
👉 You should be able to search by niche topics, not just wide categories
8/ For now, we’re working towards a beta version which you can sign up for in the waiting list in the link below. You can also have a quick look at how the app works over here 👇 https://www.getsoundbite.app/
9/ I realize this may be a bit off in terms of timing, given all the things happening in the world at the moment, so here’s hoping you stay safe and continue making or binging great pods ❤️
Aaaanddd I just realized I started numbering this thread with a 0 and immediately followed with a 2 😅

Where's the edit button Twitter 😭
Also noticed a bunch of spelling mistakes 💀
