My top 25 Kanye songs! (I’ve had this list ready for a while)
25. Dark Fantasy

Those CHORDS! Those VOCALS! What a beautiful opening to a masterpiece. The hook is phenomenal, the beat is phenomenal, and Kanye’s rapping sets the stakes very early. Definitely top tier.
24. Real Friends

Kanye’s rapping hits its most honest with a gorgeous vocal performance. The sample from Frank Dukes hits you right in the feels. Plus it features Ty Dolla $ign’s best vocal performance to date.
23. Devil in a New Dress

This song just sounds like luxury and Kanye’s desperate lyrics do everything to compliment it. A 6 minute epic ending with a beautiful guitar solo and the best Rick Ross verse ever.
22. Wouldn’t Leave

A real tender one from the ye era, this is a huge turning point in Kanye’s discography. The antithesis of Runaway, this song brings hope in a way never seen before in Kanye’s discography. Complimented by sweet production and great singing.
21. Guilt Trip

Ohhhhh yeah. The most underrated from Yeezus, this song sits as an emotional masterpiece. Swirling synths surround Kanye’s heavily affected vocals and its all topped off with a gorgeous bridge from Kid Cudi.
20. All of the Lights

Man... when those drums come in it’s like an explosion of fireworks. This is Kanye at his most maximalist and over the top and I love every second of it. Elton John’s part at the end doesn’t get enough love.
19. Say You Will

And now Kanye at his most minimalist! This was the first Kanye song that made me believe him to be a genius. Everything about it so atmospheric and beautiful in a way only Kanye could make music.
18. Street Lights

This is my favorite cut from 808s. Kanye’s melody soars over the synths and pounding drums. This is ‘reflect on my life choices at 2 am’ music at its finest.
17. I Am a God

Maybe Kanye’s most overhated song? This one has some of Kanye’s most brutal production and one of the best endings of any Kanye song ever. The running and screaming is everything I love about Yeezus. This is a song that should be put in a museum.
16. Ultralight Beam

How can you not love this one? It’s an epic of emotional conflict and beauty. Chance’s verse is perfect. The choir is perfect. The hook is perfect.
15. Violent Crimes

One of the best hooks of all time and I’ll die by that. The CHORDS man. THE CHORDS! So beautiful, so melancholy and gorgeous. The lyrics reflect Kanye’s transformation perfectly.
14. Bound 2

I literally just moved this up the list. Charlie Wilson’s part is spectacular. Kanye’s lyrics are amazing as always and the contrasting production is fantastic.
13. Famous

This beat switch never fails to make me dance. Kanye raps like his life depends on it and the samples do the rest. A banger in every sense of the word.
12. Selah

Yeah yeah yeah. Whatever. I love this song and the Hallelujahs give me goosebumps Every. Single. Time. The drums are crazy, the chords are great, and Kanye’s rapping is great, especially at the end.
11. New Slaves

Best beat switch in history? It just might be. The industrial production is the perfect compliment to Kanye’s aggressive rapping. Those four notes bounce around in the most brutal way and that ending! Frank’s voice soars over the Hungarian sample.
10. I Thought About Killing You

We’re finally in the top ten and starting it off with a doozy! ITAKY sees Kanye at his most and least vulnerable, setting the stakes for ye very early. Absolutely gorgeous. Love Francis and the Lights’s contributions so much.
9. Waves

I’m calling it here. Best beat of all time. Those synths could play for days and I’d never get bored. I like this song so much I’ll even forgive that Chris Brown is on it.
8. Lost in the World

Kanye turning a Bon Iver song into a pop masterpiece? Yes PLEASE! This song is hook after hook and amazing moment after moment. When the choir comes in with “RUN FROM THE LIGHTS RUN FOR YOUR LIFE” chills man.
7. Blood on the Leaves

IMO, this is the crowning achievement of Kanye’s discography. No one in hip hop has made a song like this. This song is like having The Sistine Chapel available on your iPhone. It’s greatness incarnate.
6. Wolves

Oh yeah. Another masterpiece. This is another defining moment in Kanye’s discography. The first time he professes his love for Kim and he does it in the most beautiful way. It’s a turning point into the rest of his discography.
5. I’m In It

Possibly Kanye’s darkest song, this one sees the depth of his loneliness and egotism bring him to the lowest place. Bon Iver’s bridge brings us to the largest turning point on Yeezus. What a moment.
4. Father Stretch My Hands, pt. 1

This is Kanye’s avant-garde masterpiece, his masterful storytelling in action. This song is stacked with contradiction after contradiction and sets the stage perfectly for TLOP. Plus Cudi’s hook is sublime.
3. Hold My Liquor

Kanye put Chief Keef and Bon Iver on the same song and it never falters for a second. This is the first emotional apex of Yeezus and it’s absolutely gorgeous. The verse is my pick for best hip hop verse of all time. And Mike Dean’s guitar solo is mind-blowing.
2. Ghost Town

This is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve heard. Belting 070 Shake’s outro is the most freeing feeling in the world. Everyone shines here to bring us Kanye’s most recent true masterpiece.
1. Runaway

The greatest song ever made and includes the greatest three minutes of music ever recorded.
