With 27 fatalities to date, the District has more deaths per 100,000 residents than surrounding counties. But it's still far below the rates in urban hotspots like New York City and New Orleans
The next few weeks and months are crucial: Will social distancing and hospital preparedness slow the pace of deaths, as in San Francisco? Or will we see an exponential rise like NYC?
