Tbph all the memes that are like “teachers, don’t beat yourself up over distance learning issues, just try your best” are hard to take to heart right now. Because these issues are not their fault, nor mine, nor the district’s/admins. These hardships are from systemic inequalities
And I miss my students. I miss getting to make music with them. And I’m frustrated with the fact that simply because of their zip code they don’t have what so many other students do in terms of continuing their learning online.
Nothing new to anyone in education, but the wounds are just made deeper by what’s going on in the world right now. The attempts made my educators will fall on empty Google Classrooms if broader social supports are not put in place for those in need.
Not only technology (giving out chromebooks), but also providing internet access, food, healthcare—the basics anyone needs to survive. #maslowbeforebloom
