BREAKING: Legislative Coordinating Council resurrects Easter, revokes @GovLauraKelly's order limiting religious gatherings to 10. Vote was 5-2 along party lines. #COVID19 #ksleg
House Speaker Ron Ryckman says order goes too far against right to free exercise of religion. Governor's Chief Counsel Clay Britton said that by revoking this order, the LCC also revoked an earlier emergency order 20-14 limiting mass gatherings. So no order in effect limiting
mass gatherings is in effect at the moment in Kansas. Neither Britton nor Gov. Kelly's Chief of Staff Will Lawrence told the LCC what the governor's next move would be.
@KDHE Secretary Lee Norman said there have been three "clusters" of #COVID19 at religious gatherings. Two
Montgomery County residents, a husband and wife, died of #COVID19 after attending a religious gathering in Wyandotte County, Norman said. Senate Minority Leader Anthony Hensley said two of his constituents died after attending a religious event in the KC area.
