So one thing re: Bernie Sanders and his supporters:
1) His ideas are great- but @ewarren did a better job with them in making them realistic and easy from both an executive and legislative stance. And lets remember that other people came up with these ideas, like John Conyers.
2) Yes, there was significant support among minorities for Sanders, particularly African Americans under 45. That's GREAT. But support does not always translate into votes- by my ad hoc spreadsheets, about 1/2 of Sanders BiPOC support went to...Biden- or did not vote.
2a) Let's unpack that: It is possible to support ideas and still not vote for a person. We saw that with the primary voters who voted for Sanders in 2016 and 10% of those voted for Trump- enough in key areas to give Trump the election, even though HRC was closer to those ideas.
2a, ctd)The same here: Yes, those brown/black young people DID support Sanders and still do, but about 1/2 of those either did not vote OR voted for Biden.
3) Of the remaining Black/brown/women Democrat supporters: the contempt& dismissal of those voters has been clear- not just here on Twitter, but in general. Understanding how structural racism/sexism affect the economy and people's well being was never a thing for this campaign.
3a) If you can name opinion makers and one state Senator on one hand who supported the Sanders campaign, then you have made my point. Politics takes coalitions, and groups, and not just a willingness to fight, BUT TO WORK.
3b) The Bernie Sanders campaign based on opposition and confrontation. That's....not the Democrat party, for better and worse.
Speaking of which...
4) Many of us have watch as Sanders supporters (not just here, but in media) try to blame Democrats for Republican greed, viciousness and folly- and take no action in building voter rolls or opposition to truly evil things that this admin has done, and in local states.
The entitlement and spitefulness of Sanders supporters towards the Dem party, a big tent party that has minorities and working women, and wanting to blow it up and start a 'revolution'- perhaps paid for with Black/brown bodies- is alienating.
